If you’ve never seen a campaign finance report, you’re in luck today!

Let’s have a look, shall we, at newly installed trustee Michael Cook‘s latest campaign finance report posted after the election:

Michael Cook Campaign Finance Report, July 31, 2023

But first, ask yourself three questions:

  • Why is Mr. Cook substantially funded by an out-of-state donor?
  • Why did Mr. Cook, who doesn’t live in California, fail to report this sizable donation from a Political Action Committee (PAC) in Northern California before the election, as required for voters to see? This donation is dated 4/26/23 and should have been reported on the 8th Day Before Election campaign finance report that Mr. Cook submitted on 4/28/23.
  • And who is California’s The Six PAC? https://www.thesixpac.com

Their about section states the following:

The Six PAC was created as a Federal PAC in 2019 to support six carefully selected rural and progressive Democrats running for the House of Representatives. In 2022, we expanded our mission to support six progressive candidates running for office in all parts of California. The goal for our endorsements in California is to expand the progressive “bench” and to create a more progressive State Legislature that will pass laws that are in sync with the California Democratic Party’s progressive platform.

Here’s the largest ‘elephant in the room’: Why aren’t Collin County voters screaming for change regarding local campaign donation rules?
