On Thursday, September 28, 2023, and for $65 dollars (POCC Members) or $125 (non-members), you too can listen to Theresa Williams taut her record and grade her performance as Plano ISD Superintendent at The Plano Chamber of Commerce “State of Plano Education” Summit.
Perhaps Mrs. Williams will address these events that have occurred in the past two months:
- Clark High School has had regular behavioral incidences (including one that put the whole school on a hold for two hours).
- Vines High School has its own slew of disciplinary issues, including a female student who was severely beaten during a lunch period.
- It took fifteen days of silence from Plano ISD admin to finally admit that Plano West High School had a failed HVAC situation since the start of school, where a teacher actually passed out, and air testing that staff have been told showed no issues, except some students and teachers are reporting health issues unlike in years past.
To further stir the proverbial pot, said Plano ISD superintendent requested and RECEIVED AN AMENDMENT TO HER CONTRACT just moments after the newly elected 2023 slate of Plano ISD Board of Trustees were sworn in.
Having just completed her first year as superintendent, will Theresa Williams lift and make public all of her nuanced failures in this district to the Chamber and taxpaying citizens attending, including the increase of violence and disciplinary issues across campuses, the enrollment loss that outpaced predictions, the bullying and disdain she and her administration have shown towards staff and parents, and the payment of over $1.4M in legal fees to the district’s law firm for parental grievances and legal actions? Yes, all in just one year!
And lest we forget, a concerned group going by the name “Fire Sara Bonser committee” eluded to a questionably timed divorce-bankruptcy-remarriage between Theresa Williams and her spouse, McMillen High School Principal Todd Williams. However, the problems with the Williams’ don’t stop there.
Shortly after Mrs. Williams had been named Plano ISD’s sole candidate for Superintendent in 2022, a Plano ISD parent had expressed their opinion on the selection of the Superintendent in public comments. While this parent was leaving the Plano ISD administration building – with their two young, school aged children also present – several witnesses watched as Principal Williams approached this parent and proceeded to verbally assault them, with their young children present at the exchange. Principal Williams continues to enjoy his principalship under his spouse’s watch, unscathed.
Superintendent Theresa Williams’ presence at this summit can be summed up in one thought: an on-going, massive, one-woman PR campaign. If you’re attending this summit, keep the following in mind:
- Plano ISD is fiscally in the deep red, there’s talk of shuttering schools, and many of Plano ISD’s best teachers are leaving in droves during and after the 2022-2023 school year. What has actually improved?
- Many parents are purposely relocating their residency and children to other school districts due to the exponential problems and issues Plano ISD has incurred in the last five years under Mrs. Williams’ watch as Associate Superintendent, and now, as Superintendent of Plano ISD schools. What has actually improved?
- The Plano ISD school district lost critical state funding due to these relocations; however, the Plano ISD administration retains a bloated administration building filled with six-figure salaried employees. At the time of publication, there is no talk of administrative position elimination at 15th street on the impending Plano ISD agenda. What has actually improved?
When all is going wrong, distract them. Right, Mrs. Williams?
