At the October 3, 2023 Board Meeting, the Board of Trustees unanimously approved Superintendent William’s appointment of Daniel “Danny” Stockton to District-level leadership in the newly created “Chief of Staff” position.
Mr. Stockton is an attorney licensed in 2016 to practice law in Texas. He comes to Plano ISD from Frisco ISD where he started as Director of Government and Legal Affairs in 2019 and was later promoted to General Counsel in 2022. Prior to that, governmental salary records indicate he worked in the Office of The Texas Attorney General.
Mr. Stockton’s experience has allowed him to hone his skills in thwarting citizens’ efforts to obtain public information through open records requests. Not only does Mr. Stockton employ these tactics in his school districts, but he advises other school districts in Texas on how to do the same.
Mr. Stockton was exposed twice in 2021 for his unscrupulous methods against parents: “Parents’ Push for School Transparency Met With Delay Tactics” and “Parents Frustrated With Frisco ISD’s Stonewalling of Public Information Requests“.
Superintendent Williams and the Plano ISD Trustees are clearly enamored with Mr. Stockton’s effective practices at stifling parents that they brought him into Plano ISD, undoubtedly to employ those same stifling practices with Plano ISD parents.
Mr. Stockton was paid $152,500 in Frisco ISD last year. The “Chief of Staff” job posting in Plano ISD had a minimum salary of “to be determined.” Did Mr. Stockton Level Up his salary? Why has every Superintendent before Theresa Williams been able to perform the job without a Chief of Staff? Why do we need a Chief of Staff now? And how much does this position cost the District? Remember, Plano ISD is in the red.
