The Unofficial Guide to Plano ISD

Board Votes 7-0 to Give the Community the Bird (Again)

on

Before the Board voted at the May 7, 2024 meeting to elect the Board President for the next school year, a member of the community voiced his concerns to the Board about the current President Nancy Humphrey. He cited a very common complaint: President Nancy Humphrey’s clear disdain for the community as exemplified in her intentionally setting certain public comments for the end of the Board meetings, making those comments frequently heard after 10 pm.

This speaker implored the Board to vote for a different President who would move all public comments to the beginning of the meeting, just as surrounding school district do, rather than continue the Plano ISD tradition of attrition by making staff, parents, students, and community members wait late into the night to address the Board and District – a wait many cannot afford, causing them to leave before they can be heard.

What did the Board do?

Each Board Trustee gave the community a giant middle-finger and unanimously voted to re-elect Nancy Humphrey as Board President.
