The Unofficial Guide to Plano ISD

SKI Plano’s Double Black Diamond Slope

The Plano ISD Education Foundation recently held its annual Supporting Kids in (SKI) Plano fundraiser. Will SKI Plano 2025 lose close to another $100,000 like last year?

That’s right, SKI Plano appears to really be a self-celebratory gala for Plano ISD and its groupies funded by donors who believe their monetary contributions are going to the betterment of Plano ISD students. This sounds similar to the taxpayer-funded vanity project known as the Robinson Fine Arts Center.

Grading the previous SKI Plano “fundraiser” events:

SKI Plano YearGain/LossGrade
2023-$99,119FAIL
2022$27,714PASS

TOTAL-$196,812FAIL

*The Plano ISD Education Foundation indicated on social media that for 2021 (the Covid-19 school year) it held a ‘“party with a purpose’ at home, while raising funds for Plano ISD students, teachers and programs.” However, no record could be found of the amount of money raised or lost for this 2021 event.

For the $123,339 that SKI Plano has raised over the past 8 years, it has come at a loss of $320,151.

Why is this event continuing to be held when it is clear they’re doing more fun-spending than fund-raising?

Next time you consider supporting or attending SKI Plano, you might want to think twice about where your money is really going.
