The Unofficial Guide to Plano ISD

Listening to Who?

Several media outlets, including Fox 4 News in Dallas, have been reporting on the alleged abuse of a disabled Plano ISD student by one of her special-needs teachers.

The video is difficult and heartbreaking to watch.

Courageously, the student and parents of this student appeared at the most recent Plano ISD School Board Meeting on April 8, 2025 to address the Plano ISD School Board and District Administration.

After the student and the student’s mother addressed the Board and Administration, the father addressed all of them. The father attempted to specifically speak on Agenda Item 8.1 “Consideration and Approval of Resolution for Superintendent of the Year Nomination” in the context of the alleged abuse inflicted on his disabled daughter in a Plano ISD special-needs classroom. That resolution stated:

However, this father couldn’t even bring up a legitimate agenda item and criticize the Board on a decision they would be voting on that night without being gaveled and shut down as “out of order” by Plano ISD Board President Nancy Humphrey.

As has been called out on social media, is this even legal? Were the father’s rights violated?

Let’s remember, this appalling public admonishment, disdain, and shut down came from Plano ISD Board President Nancy Humphrey who is currently running for re-election with the campaign slogan “Listening to You”.

This is not the first time Nancy Humphrey has shut down a stakeholder that has made the effort to be at the Board Meeting to voice legitimate concerns.

Plano ISD parents, students, and teachers deserve to be heard. Sadly it appears only one person has her ear…
