This week, the Texas Education Agency released the 2022-2023 Accountability Ratings for Texas schools after the much hyped lawsuit to keep those numbers hidden.

Plano ISD’s ratings are at all-time lows and 2023-2024 are expected to be lower.

Imagine this is your student.

“Academic Growth provides an opportunity for districts and campuses to receive credit for STAAR results in ELA/reading and mathematics that either meet the student-level criteria for the STAAR progress measure or maintain performance.”

Plano ISD’s ‘Academic Growth’ dropped from a 91 (A) to a 78 (C).

Imagine if this was your student.

Would you be blaming the test year after year or would you decide it’s time to intervene and educate the student?

Would you nominate Theresa Williams for Superintendent of the Year with these declining results like the School Board did at the April 8, 2025 Plano ISD Board Meeting?

“Closing the Gaps uses disaggregated data to demonstrate differentials among racial/ethnic groups, socioeconomic backgrounds and other factors. The indicators included in this domain, as well as the domain’s construction, align the state accountability system with the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).”

Plano ISD’s ‘Closing the Gaps’ score dropped from a 90 (A) to an 80 (B).

Imagine if this was your student.

Would you blame your race/income/other factors for a decline in grades as the easy way out or would you expect accountability to educate the student regardless of race/income/other factors?

Though College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) is not calculated in the scoring, it is a very important metric to evaluate a district. Plano ISD’s CCMR score went from a 95 (A) to 72 (C). This metric has been easily accessible in prior years, now hidden in the weeds.

Imagine if this was your student.

Would you be expecting your student to be ready for college, career, or military readiness after paying 2/3 of your property tax dollars to an institution that is set up to educate your student or would you just say “Well at least we beat the state number”?

This is just scratching the surface of data analytics.

While the 2023-2024 scores have not been publicly released due to the lawsuit, Plano ISD is in possession of these scores. Dallas ISD publicly released their 2023-2024 scores in the name of transparency and accountability, buzz words Plano ISD often uses but seldom applies.
