The Unofficial Guide to Plano ISD

One of These Things Is Not Like the Other

Check out this post from Plano ISD for School Board Recognition Month, and spot the impostor.

That’s right, the superintendent is not a trustee or member of the school board.

Unlike the trustees, the superintendent is not an elected official, she is the one and only employee of the trustees.

The trustees should be accountable to their constituents. Their job is to advocate for their constituents not abdicate to the superintendent.

Why is the school district misleading the public into believing the superintendent is a trustee? Did the trustees approve this deceptive photo?

Is the superintendent a volunteer position like the trustees’? Nope, she’s not for free. The superintendent makes upwards of $400,000 in compensation and benefits.

With this muddled dynamic it’s no surprise the district is constantly embattled in so many controversies.
